April 2026
Residency Project: This April, I Ching collaboration ensemble would like to invite you to join us for weekly Open Labs as we study and explore the ways in which the I Ching translates into practice and performance.
We are excited and honored for the opportunity to share reading, process, exploration, and discovery in residence at Water & Power this month!
No previous experience with the I Ching is necessary. The laboratories will be supported with a collection of print translations and interpretive guides – or you may bring your own. Laboratory sessions will include exploring and responding to the I Ching with music, movement, drawing, and writing.
A final performance at the end of the residency will feature guest artists and an installation of readings and visitor contributions gathered during the Open Lab sessions.
Kenny Zhao, angel lin, and Young Tseng have been reading and exploring the I Ching in collaborative performances that combine divination, improvisation, and listening deeply.

Residency Project:
The Seizure of Love, After the Leaving
夺取之爱
离去之后
Through sculpture and performance, continuing to tell the stories that emerge in consciousness. The
flows and returns, the dissolution and disintegration of life. Love, sensation that burn like an endless
flame. I wish to express all, through the flow of consciousness, with the sincerity and poignancy of
poetry.
The performance continues the previous mode of observation, gives life to the objects (sculptures) while
depriving the subject (performer) of sensory perception, leading viewers into an honest experiment of
observation.
Evesaltocave - @evesaltocaveARTIST:
In evesaltocave’s work, the body becomes a vessel, and objects are living carriers of memory. Her
performances often merge with sculptural installations, unfolding over extended durations or episodic
narratives. Through installations, and intuitive bodily movement, she weaves reflections and imaginings
of the world. Humans and objects act as mediums, continuously transforming and dissolving between
“self” and “other,” as if part of an ongoing cycle of metamorphosis.
Final Performance - May 10, 2026
